Dear Hidden Object Games...

A lot of Hidden Object games as of recent years have fallen into the mix of Adventure/Hidden Object genre and you know what, that's good, that's great. Its a good addition and one I completely endorse, if only because often these can be a springboard to bigger and less casual titles.

Though please, if you are going to make your game story-featured, fix how you do the hidden object scenes. It seriously makes no sense for a character to do this...



Player: Oh no! We are trapped in a mine!
Random Love Interest #15: We need to find something to open this door!
Player: I'll save the day! Look a mass of items!

*Goes to items. Finds crowbar*

Random Love Interest #15: Great! Now lets... what ARE you doing?
Player: I NEED TO FIND A DUCK
Random Love Interest #15: WHY?
Player: And a harmonica! and 2 shrunken heads! and a cloche!
Random Love Interest #15: Still doesn't answer my question
Player: I cant leave this place in such a mess!
Random Love Interest #15: YES YOU CAN, this place literally will be underwater soon!
Player: HUSH!

*finds all items*

Random Love Interest #15: Great, well done... now can we.. Did you just chuck every item back bar the crowbar?
Player: Well I don't need anything else right?
Random Love Interest #15: THEN WHY WERE YOU PICKING EVERYTHING ELSE UP?
Player: I wuv you (but please remember. I am teh independent lady who don't need no man)
Random Love Interest #15: *sighs*

*Use crowbar on door. Door opens. Throws down crowbar*

Random Love Interest #15: Why did you just throw away that crowbar?
Player: Don't need it
Random Love Interest #15: Right... Oh look. Another barricaded door. WHY DID YOU THROW THE CROWBAR AWAY?
Player: Oops. Lemme go get something *rummages through the same pile again, picking up everything in sight*
Random Love Interest #15: The crowbar is RIGHT HERE ON THE FLOOR
Player: I found a screwdriver! *puts all other items right back where they were before*
Random Love Interest #15: You know what, just do whatever the hell you want
Player: Wuv you
Random Love Interest #15: Go away

*Unscrews boards. Chucks screwdriver away. Door is stuck due to rust*

Player: Whoops. Now I need oil *Rummages through same pile for a third time*
Random Love Interest #15: Screw this *knocks player out and escapes by crowbarring the hell out of everything*
