Hotel & Crystals of Time - Casual Crash

Im not feeling too smart. Ive had these two hanging in drafts for ages and had forgotten to publish them. Whats the answer to me being stupid this way? A two for one post, thats what! Its just as well that its a two-for-one post though as both of these games manage to crash and burn in similar ways, just one managing to do so in a much more spectacular fashion than the other... Where shall we start then... Hotel?

Hotel is a odd little title which attempts to be a casual version of a classic adventure title (ala Monkey Island, Police Quest and Syberia) but for some reason they watered everything down to the extreme, providing a title with few actual puzzles, simple item-based puzzles and basic conversation sets along with the usual trappings of a casual adventure (repeated graphics, muddy and lazy backgrounds and poor animations). Its also incredibly short, clocking in at around one to two hours of gameplay.

Hotel: Collectors Edition
Special note has to go to the random 'Abandoned Village' chapter which turns the game from a detective mystery into a weird supernatural story out of nowhere. Its not enough to save the game though.
Crystals of Time
Crystals of Time on the other hand is more your standard Hidden Object/Casual Adventure hybrid with still scenes, easy puzzles and hidden object areas all over the place. Just like Hotel though, it feels incredibly lazy with large amounts of padding, making an already short game feel bigger. The larger sin however is the complete lack of care to music (dull) and artwork (blurry backgrounds ahoy!).

Essentially: Stay away from these two stinkers. Save your money.
