Unemployment Quest - Pass the Preachy

I know this is a bit of a weird game for me to be reviewing, especially right after I made a post detailing me searching for work and finding it tough. That said that probably makes good FOR actually reviewing this game, a kickstarter funded RPG-Maker title, made specifically to tackle the issue of people who are having trouble just finding work, dealing with the stress, worry and nervousness of jobsearching in general.

Its a nice message sure, but its also a hollow one. Talking about these sorts of issues via a videogame isn't very practical in any way and this isn't really a great medium in general for 'helping' others through this sort of situation. There's no real proper advice at hand, nor is there any leading information to guide players to other sources. Instead it just throws a rather simple story in there, some attempts at metaphors and its over with quick.

This isn't helped by the designer slapping everything together with RPG maker and failing to use any original assets at all. Every piece of art, sprite-work and music is made through the various RPG-Maker open-asset libraries and quite often what is used manages to jar horribly against each other, having medieval elements such as kingly looking figures and random blacksmiths against more modern pieces just makes the whole thing look wonky, disorganized and uninteresting.

Its a shame, because it does want to give a good message, its just lost among a series of blank faces, vague information, bad puns and lazy design.
