KRUNCH - Go Speed Racer Go!

KRUNCH is an interesting little title, its not really a platformer as there's no real platforming involved, yet it has a lot in common with the likes of Super Meat Boy and its ilk. At the same time its not really a racing title, yet there's a large emphasis on speed, each level pushing you through to the end at fast speeds. Yep... theres no clear genre here for this game... but who cares?

KRUNCH is addictive. The game speeding you along like I mentioned, doubled with a tough, but fair difficulty, means that every death and failure is just a push to make you want to beat it even moreso. It is over... rather fast because of how the game pushes you so, you'll start off at the beginning and about an hour later, you'll be at the end of it.

But this game happens to be clever in two ways with this, firstly, this is clearly a game for score chasers, with levels containing alternate routes, point pickups and small corners that, while they may be risky, could shave seconds off the total time. Then there's also the achievement hunters, the game comes packed with achievements, each one daring to complete levels in certain fashions, be it collecting all the pickups, beating times or avoiding enemies.

Art-style wise, the pixel and colour themes work wonders, each area having a distinct colour-scheme, one that sets the tone perfectly. Oh and then there's the energetic and tense music, pushing you even more onwards. Overall... the game rocks and its a speedy chase that you wont wanna miss.
