Castle: Never Judge a Book By Its Cover - Breaking and Entering!

Ive somehow gotten into the habit of playing random games now wherever possible. One of these times was during meeting up with family an hour away and this was on the computer. While the parents chatted, I wound up going through this in speedy fashion and yes, its a hidden object title and yes I spent most my time going 'WHAT?' in utter confusion throughout.

Lets hit the first one right off, the game definitely manages to get the feel and style of the tv-show, the characters all look right, what they say comes off as stuff they would probably say (with plenty of banter throughout between Beckett and Castle) but that's really where the similarities end.

You see, the big reason I went 'WHAT?' so often is how insane the game is at times in its item hunting and puzzle chains. Often you wind up in victims homes and businesses, also suspects homes and businesses. Fair enough, that's normal... What isn't normal though is the sheer amount of random item grabbing and property damage that would make any police detective cringe and any kleptomaniac adventure game hero nod on in agreement. Throughout the game you ransack homes, break things in bars that only have a slight connection to the case and grab all sorts of strange seemingly random items 'Just in case'.

It gets even worse when said items are things that really shouldn't be that much of an issue to get, one point forcing you through two hidden object scenes and a few puzzles just to get a glass-cutter so you can access a glass-case with a watch JUST so you can take the small battery inside to power up something else...

Then there's the time I had to find two $1 bills through a series of silly events to buy a can of pop to cool down a BBQ grill to get something. Its just ridiculous.

Thankfully this game does have one high point and that's the puzzles. Each one of them winds up being very different from each other and all of them can be bloomin difficult to solve at times. Despite this the game is very simple and is over with fast. Would I recommend it?... No not really. Theres plenty of other puzzle-centric titles you could be playing without coping through some of the 'huh?' moments this game puts you through.
