Q.U.B.E. - Qube Me Quickly

Q.U.B.E. is pretty simple in what you have to do. Get from point A to point B by using a variety of different things, not unlike Portal. Here however we don't use Portal Guns. Instead its down to using a variety of blocks to make platforms, make walls rotate and spring you about. Is it worth going through?

Short answer for those who don't care about details, yes it is worth it. Heres why though, everything about Qube is very well done. The graphics are crisp and clear, the music switching between soothing and haunting and the puzzles themselves having the sort of look that makes you go 'Agh! What do I do?' but never keeps you stumped for TOO long... With the exception of two certain puzzles that is (I will go into detail later). Each puzzle also gives off that great feeling, the sort where you have been working on solving something then BINGO! Instant rush. And its good!

It also keeps pace brilliantly, every single chapter introduces a new mechanic from new types of blocks, to light beams that need to be redirected and other such interesting things to play with. Where the game stumbles however is that it does feel a bit 'Me too' at times, settings and clean athestics giving off a very 'Aperture Labs' feel about it.

The other stumbling block being THOSE two puzzles. Anyone who has gone through the game will know exactly what I am on about and even the devs, acknowledge how bad they are, throwing out achievements for 'The Hardest Puzzle Part 1 and Part 2'. Both puzzles are just maddeningly horrid and both are less about difficulty and more about showcasing how the engine, while great, also has its severe weaknesses. Basically these two 'Puzzles' are pretty much 'Lets see how its done on youtube so I can finish this game' puzzles.

Pushing that aside though, the rest of the game is really beautiful and well worth it. The price too isn't bad either and some extra DLC on the side meaning more good times.
